The latest draw which held yesterday, the 2nd of October is deemed to be the largest invitation recorded so far in the last six months. A record-breaking number of 3900 candidates were invited to apply for PR.
Every candidate who got an invitation must have scored a minimum CRS score of 464.
The latest draw which held yesterday witnessed an increase in number (300) from the usual 3,600 invitations which had always been the norm in recent months. The last time 3,900 candidates were invited was the draw which held on the 23rd of January, 2019.
The deciding rule for yesterday’s draw was determined on the 20th of September, 2019, at 15:05:04 UTC. So, every applicant who has a profile in the pool before this date, and whose score was on or above 464 received an invitation in yesterday’s draw.

There are three subdivisions of the Federal Express Entry Program – Federal Skilled Workers, Federal Skilled Trades, and Canadian Experience Class.

The draws take place regularly (average interval of 2 weeks), and a minimum CRS benchmark is set per draw. Applicants who meet such cutoff are invited by the IRCC to apply for permanent residency in the country.
Following the recent ITA of 3,900; this brings the total ITAs issued this year to 67,300 as against total projected ITA of 81,400 for 2019, according to the graph below.

Perhaps, if the number remains steady at 3,900 per draw, then the IRCC, at the end of 2019, will surpass the total ITA for 2018 (89,800).
It is no surprise, though, if the IRCC goes beyond this target because of the increase in admission for 2019 and 2020.
Recently, the provincial nomination programs have witnessed several adjustments with new occupations being incorporated. Therefore, the increase in today’s cutoff might not be unconnected with a higher number of candidates in the pool getting a provincial nomination (additional 600 points).
Notwithstanding, candidates who wish to increase their chances of getting an ITA in the Federal pool can apply for various provincial nomination program. These provinces have increased their nominations lately, and we have seen candidates with scores as low as 302 getting a provincial nomination.
Case Study;
- Juliana is 31, with a Master’s degree, and has been an administrative officer for five years. She has a good score in an IELTS test, and no Canadian work experience. With an estimated CRS score of 465, she would have gotten an invitation in this recent draw.
- Cherry and Michael are 29 and 32, respectively. They are both graduates with a BSc degree and have over four years of working experience as software engineers. Although Cherry is quite proficient in English and basic in French, Michael has intermediate knowledge of English. Afterward, both applicants decide to go into the pool with Cherry as the primary applicant. Their aggregated CRS score of 467 would have been sufficient enough to get an ITA in the recent Express Entry draw.
